SERIALIZATION

Industrial Serialization and Variable Data Management

In modern manufacturing, a part without a number is just a piece of metal. Serialization is the process that transforms a component into a trackable asset. Graphie offers comprehensive serialization services, managing complex variable data to provide our clients in the transportation and industrial sectors with full traceability.

We understand that for an OEM, a duplicate serial number or a missing tag is not just a nuisance; it’s a compliance failure. Our data management protocols ensure that whether we are marking 10 prototypes or 10,000 production units, every single character is correct and unique.

Automated Data Integrity

The risk in serialization lies in human error. At Graphie, we eliminate manual entry. We utilize advanced software that interfaces directly with our marking equipment (Laser, CNC, or Printer) to import your data files directly.

  • Database Import: We work with your Excel (.xls, .csv) or text files to pull widely variable data sets.

  • Sequential Logic: For simple runs, our systems manage auto-incrementing sequences (e.g., A-001 to A-500) ensuring no gaps and no duplicates.

  • Verification: We implement "First Article Inspection" protocols where the first serialized tag is verified against the master list before the full run begins.

Multi-Technology Serialization

Since Graphie controls all marking technologies under one roof, we can apply serialization using the method best suited to the part’s environment:

  • Laser Marking: Best for permanent, high-volume serialization on stainless steel or aluminum. Ideal for Data Matrix codes and QR codes that require high-contrast scanning.

  • Mechanical Engraving: Used for heavy-duty asset tags where the serial number must remain legible even if the tag is painted over or subjected to heavy abrasion.

  • Digital Printing: Perfect for generating sequential barcode labels, warranty stickers, and asset ID decals in large rolls for inventory management.

Industry 4.0 and Traceability

For our partners in the mass transit and defense sectors, traceability is a requirement for warranty and maintenance. We help you close the loop:

  • UID (Unique Identification): We generate tags that meet military or corporate standards for lifetime item tracking.

  • Smart Codes: Beyond simple numbers, we generate 2D codes (QR, Data Matrix) that can embed maintenance URLs, manufacturing dates, or batch numbers directly onto the part.
