CNC MACHINING
CNC Machining and Precision Finishing
While laser cutting offers speed and efficiency for defining part geometry, certain mechanical features demand the physical precision of a cutting tool. Graphie provides CNC machining services dedicated to the processing and finishing of metal components. Whether refining a laser-cut plate or producing a complex machined part, we ensure every feature meets the tight tolerances required by the transportation and industrial sectors.
Based in La Pocatière, Quebec, Graphie supports manufacturers across Canada and the United States with precision-machined components integrated directly into our metal fabrication workflow. By combining machining with laser cutting, bending, clinching, and welding, we deliver parts that are not only cut to shape, but truly ready to assemble.
Generalist and Advanced Machining Capabilities
Graphie manages a full spectrum of CNC machining capabilities, ranging from standard geometry to complex multi-directional features. Our machining services include precision milling and access to advanced 5-axis machining, enabling the production of components with complex contours, angled features, and tight-access geometries.
Our machining department produces components with exceptional precision, ensuring that even high-complexity 5-axis parts meet the same quality standards as our sheet metal fabrication.
Integrated 3-Axis Machining Center: The Finishing Specialist
Our production floor includes a dedicated 3-axis CNC machining center, optimized specifically for secondary operations on plate metals such as aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel. This equipment is the natural extension of our fiber laser cutting capabilities.
Typical machining operations include:
-
Chamfering (Chanfrein): Precise beveled edges for weld preparation, safety, and part handling.
-
Counterboring & Countersinking (Chambrage): Flat-bottomed or conical recesses that allow fastener heads to sit flush with the surface.
-
Tapping and Reaming: Threaded holes and precision bores requiring tighter tolerances than thermal cutting can provide.
These operations are commonly integrated into recurring production runs, eliminating secondary handling and ensuring consistent quality from batch to batch.
Technical Specifications and Tolerances
Precision is defined by data. All machined metal components; up to 1 inch in material thickness; are produced according to strict dimensional standards.
Machining Tolerances
-
Positioning Tolerance: ± 0.001 inch
-
Dimensional Tolerance: ± 0.001 inch
Countersunk, Radius, and Chamfer Tolerances
For secondary features and finishing details:
-
Positioning Tolerance: ± 0.001 inch
-
Dimensional Tolerance: ± 0.005 inch
-
Angle Tolerance: ± 1 degree
