Can you laser cut PVC?
No. We strictly prohibit the cutting of rigid PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) piping or thick sheets on our laser equipment due to the release of corrosive gases. For these materials, we utilize our CNC Machining (Router) service. However, we can process specific laser-safe vinyl films and thin flexible materials safely.
What is the maximum thickness you can cut with the CO2 laser?
Our 200W system can cut Acrylic up to 1 inch thick with a polished edge. For Polycarbonate, we typically limit cutting to 1/4 inch to ensure edge quality and prevent yellowing. For thicker structural plastics, we recommend our CNC machining services.
Why use laser cutting instead of a die cutter (punching)?
Die cutting requires expensive custom tooling (dies) for every new shape. Laser cutting requires no hard tooling—only a digital file. This makes laser cutting far more cost-effective for prototyping (cardboard/plastic), low-to-medium volume production, and complex geometries where a die would be impossible to manufacture.
