How does laser welding impact the total cost of my part?
Although laser welding uses advanced equipment, it often reduces total part cost by minimizing secondary operations. Faster welding speeds, reduced distortion, and less post-weld finishing mean parts spend less time on the shop floor, resulting in a more efficient and predictable production cycle for recurring series.
When should I choose laser welding over TIG welding?
Laser welding is best suited for long seams, flat surfaces requiring minimal distortion, and high-volume recurring production where automation improves consistency and reduces cycle time. TIG welding remains an excellent choice for complex geometries, manual access, or specialized aluminum alloys that benefit from hands-on control. Can you laser weld reflective or dissimilar metals?
Yes. Our fiber laser welding technology is highly effective on reflective materials such as aluminum and copper. We can also manage certain dissimilar metal combinations, providing additional design flexibility for electrical, thermal, and structural applications that are challenging for traditional welding methods.
