What is the difference between Anodizing and Chromate Conversion?
The main difference is conductivity. Anodizing creates a hard, non-conductive layer. Chromate Conversion (Chem Film) provides corrosion protection but remains conductive, making it the correct choice for grounding plates and EMI shielding.
Why do stainless steel welds need cleaning?
Welding heat destroys the protective oxide layer of stainless steel and creates "heat tint" (discoloration). If left untreated, these areas could rust. Our Surfox cleaning restores the protective layer and the visual appearance of the metal.
Should I choose Zinc Plating or Galvanization?
Choose Zinc Plating for precision parts, tight tolerances, and indoor use. Choose Galvanization for heavy structural steel, outdoor railings, or parts where a thick, rugged coating is needed and tolerances are less critical.
