Is the anodized layer conductive?
No. The anodic layer is an electrical insulator. If your part requires electrical grounding (e.g., an electronics chassis), we must mask the contact points prior to anodizing, or apply a chemical conversion coating (Alodine) which remains conductive.
Can you match custom colors?
Anodizing dyes are not as precise as paint (Pantone). While we offer standard industrial colors (Black being the most common and consistent), slight variations can occur between batches due to the alloy of the aluminum. For absolute color matching, we recommend Powder Coating or Screen Printing over the anodized surface.
Which aluminum alloys are best for anodizing?
6061 and 5052 aluminum anodize very well with consistent results. We generally advise against anodizing cast aluminum or certain 2000-series alloys if aesthetics are critical, as they can produce a darker or uneven finish.
